ROT Rally Comes Back to Austin

It’s that time again! This weekend, June 9-12, Austin will be hosting the annual Republic of Texas Biker Rally, known to most as the ROT Rally. This event brings in thousands of people (and bikes) from all over the country. 

Festivities begin this Thursday at the Travis County Expo Center. Attractions include a ride in bike show, custom bike builders, the World Famous Wall of Death, comedians, live music, The Paradise Bar, a tattoo expo, stunt performers, over 350 vendors to check out, and the famous ROT Rally Friday night Parade.  Saturday night, Austin blocks off 54 blocks downtown for a huge Street Party where only bikers and bikes are allowed.

Summer is here! Kids are out of school and looking for something to do. Get them out of the house and into the pool (with sunscreen!) at Steiner Ranch! As of May 9 summer pool hours have begun. Check out the schedule below to see when they are available.

Bella Mar Splash Pool, Lap Pool, and Baby

Closed Mondays until 2pm

Tuesday-Sunday 7am – 10pm

The Master’s Swim Program will be using the Lap Pool Wednesday & Fridays from 5:30am to 6:45am and Sunday 6:30am to 7:45am. Lap lanes will be available to lap swimmers during these times.

Steiner Stars Summer League will be using the pool 3:3pm – 7:30pm, and lap lanes will not be available. The John Simpson pool with be open, though.

California Businesses Make the Move

California business are making the move to Austin, but why? Legislators from the Golden State want to know. They plan on visiting Austin April 14 and 15, along with the lieutenant gonernor, to meet with Texas Gov. Rick Perry as well as the CEOs of business that have already made the transition to the South. 

They want to get in their heads.

"We're not asking these businesses to come back," California Assemblyman Dan Logue said. "We want to know why they left and we want to know what we [California] are doing to the business community. What can we do to fix things here?"
